BACKGROUND:The discussion around the truth disclosure of cancer patients has always been concerned,from the viewpoint of culture and legal tradition,as well as ethics and clinical medicine.Although patient protection prescript is common in medical practice, it shows a higher level of awareness about the diagnosis of malignant tumor in our country. With the medical mode transformed,development of medicine and the updated laws and regulations,clinical staff should be familiar with the patients'expectations and emotional reaction so as to treat individuals properly.AIMS:Firstly,to investigate the constituent ratios of different informed patients; Secondly,respective requirement for inform disclosure between the patients and families is surveyed;Thirdly,this paper explores the short term and long term effect of cancer on patients'anxiety and depression.Finally,how to improve the life quality and provide better society support are still significant.METHODS:1223 patients was involved in the survey of informed disclosure in a general hospital.Questionnaires were delivered to 120 participants,and voluntarily they completed the Information Preference Questionnaire for Cancer Patients,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale,Self-Rating Depression Scale,Self-Rating Quality of Life Scale and Sociel Support Scale.The statistical data was analysed by SPSS 17.0,and when P<0.05,it has statistical significance.RESULTS:For all the 1223 patients,845 informed patients account for 69%,while totally informed patients account for 30.25% and partial informed ones account for 38.84%,and 378 uninformed ones account for 30.91%;84.43% individuals need as much informations about illness as possible,77.86% patients require the bad news.However,only 26.7% of the families consider patient should be fully informed,while 34.18% prefer partial informed,and 39.08% prefer uninformed.Shortly (48h) after being informed,patients'heart rate,blood pressure as well as grades of SAS and SDS increases with statistical significance, and the heart rate and blood pressure decreases to the level before informed;Within 48h,the fully informed group has higher SAS and SDS grades, compared with the other groups with statistical significance.Two Weeks later, the SDS grade shows no statistical significance,yet SAS grade has:the fully informed group is the highest. Four weeks later,the SAS grade shows no statistical significance,yet SDS grade has:the fully informed group is the highest and the partial informed group is the lowest.Around the three groups, neither the life quality nor the society support shows statistical significance.CONCLUTIONS:Most patients need to be fully informed about their diseases.However, shortly after informed,the following negetive emotion will affect patients' life quality.
