Objective: To investigate the Changes of anxiety and depression during chemotherapy in patients with cancer and the effect of awareness on it.TO provide reference for clinicians to treat cancer patients with psychological intervention and to communicate with patients about their condition.Methods: 53 cancer inpatients,who were hospitalized from April 2017 to September 2018 in the Fourth Oncology Department of Shengjing Hospital affiliated to China Medical University,before and after two cycles and four cycles chemotherapy were assessed with a questionnaire for demographic characteristic,Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD).The demographic characteristic of the patients was investigated before chemotherapy,and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and the Hamilton Depression Scale were investigated within 24 hours before the start of the first cycle of chemotherapy,the third cycle of chemotherapy,and fifth cycle of chemotherapy.Results: 1.Effects of different factors on anxiety and depression before chemotherapy in cancer patients The mean scores of anxiety and depression were higher in women than in men,age <65 years than age ?65 years,higher medicare reimbursement group than lower medicare reimbursement group,high education group and lower education group,but P>0.05,no statistical significance.The anxiety score was highest in the group of medium family monthly income,the depression score was highest in the group of top family monthly income,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).2.Changes in anxiety and depression score during chemotherapy in cancer patients during chemotherapy The anxiety and depression scores of cancer patients during chemotherapy decreased first and then increased with the increase of chemotherapy cycle(P<0.001).3.The effect of awareness on anxiety and depression scores in patients during chemotherapy About anxiety: The mean anxiety scores during chemotherapy are different in patients of different degree of awareness in the time of before chemotherapy,after 2 cycles of chemotherapy,and after 4 cycles of chemotherapy,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The mean score of anxiety in a the partial informed patients was highest before chemotherapy,after 2 cycles of chemotherapy,and after 4 cycles of chemotherapy.The mean scores of anxiety in full informed patients was lower after 2 cycles than that of uninformed patients.The mean scores of anxiety of uninformed patients and full informed patients were similar before chemotherapy and after 4 cycles of chemotherapy.There was no interaction between awareness and the cycle of chemotherapy(P>0.05),that is,with the increase of the cycle of chemotherapy,the ability to influence anxiety scores of awareness did not change.About depression: The mean depression scores during chemotherapy are different in patients of different degree of awareness in the time of before chemotherapy,after 2 cycles of chemotherapy,and after 4 cycles of chemotherapy,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The mean score of depression in a the partial informed patients was higher before chemotherapy,after 2 cycles of chemotherapy,and after 4 cycles of chemotherapy than full informed patients,and the scores of full informed patients were also higher than that of uninformed patients.There was an interaction between awareness and the progress of chemotherapy cycle(P<0.05).That is,with the increase of the cycle of chemotherapy,the ability to influence depression scores of awareness changed.With the increase of the cycle of chemotherapy,the ability to influence depression scores of partial informed>uninformed> fully informed.Conclusion: 1.Anxiety and depression scores in patients during chemotherapy are probably related to various factors,like gender,age,education level and the type of insurance;2.With the progress of chemotherapy,the anxiety and depression of patients are both firstly decreased and then increased;3.Under different informed conditions,the average score of anxiety and depression of cancer patients during chemotherapy before chemotherapy,after 2 cycles of chemotherapy,after 4 cycles of chemotherapy were different,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).With the increase of the cycle of chemotherapy,the ability to influence depression scores of awareness changed..(P<0.05)...
