Objective:To observe the effect of electroacupuncture on GV20 and EX-HN1 on post-stroke cognitive impairment.Method:Forty-eight cases accorded with the inclusive criteria of post-stroke cognitive impairment, were randomly divided into control group and treatment group (24 ones in each group). Patients in both groups received routine neurological therapy, as well as drug therapy necessary for improvement of cognitive impairment and rehabilitation training,meanwhile treatment group and control group, treated with and without electroacupuncture on GV20 and EX-HN1 of 30 minutes respectively, and then both received rehabilitation training of 45 minutes, once daily for 8 consecutive weeks. Subsequently, all patients received an assessment of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and then auditory ERP-P300 values of two groups were recorded using Event-Related Brain Potential (ERP) as observation index in pre-treatment and 8 weeks post-treatment respectively.Result:(1) The feasibility of combination of the traditional rehabilitation therapy "acupuncture" as well as modern rehabilitation training was preliminarily confirmed.(2) The scores of MMSE showed that there was a substantial improvement with statistical significance in both control group and treatment group after treatment, as compared with that before treatment (P<0.05)(3) After treatment, treatment group exhibited a significant improvement in the scores of MMSE, auditory P300 latencies and amplitudes, as compared with that of control group (P<0.05)Conclusion:Electroacupuncture on GV20 and EX-HN1 contributes to the improvement of cognitive function of stroke patients with cognitive impairment.
