Objective:To investigate the vision, vision-related quality of life (VRQoL), social support) psychological state (anxiety, depression) and recurrence rate of retinal detachment for patients with monocular rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) surgery after discharge for one-week, six-month and one-year. Meanwhile, to evaluate the influence of transitional care on low-vision patients with monocular rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) surgery.Methods:83 low-vision patients with monocular rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) surgery were divided into two groups, the control group (41 patients) and the experimental group (42 patients). The control group adopted clinic follow-up visit for about one year. The experimental group underwent transitional care for about one year. The vision, vision-related quality of life (VRQoL), social support, psychological state (anxiety, depression) and recurrence rate of retinal detachment were compared between two groups after discharge for one-week, six-month and one-year after discharged.Results:1,There was no difference in vision between two groups. But the trend of two groups was different, which of the experimental group was stable and that of control group was decreased at the time of one-year. 2,The score of CLVQOL was no difference between two groups at the time of one-week. The total score of CLVQOL with the experimental group was significantly different from the control group at the time of six-month and one-year. Differences mainly produced in the item of "read and do the precision work" and "do the daily house works".3,The score of social support was no difference between two groups at the time of one-week. The total score of social support and the score of objective support, subjective support, utilization of support with the experimental group was significantly different from the control group at the time of six-month and one-year.4,The scores of SAS,SDS were no difference between two groups at the time of one-week, which were significant different at the time of six-month and one-year.The score of the experimental group were lower than that of the control group, but still higher than national norm.5,There was significant difference between two groups on the recurrence rate of retinal detachment. The recurrence rate of retinal detachment on surgery eye was no different and that of fellow eye was different.Conclusions:1,The vision of discharged low vision patients undergoing monocular RRD was not stable and need transitional care to prevent the decline in vision and slow down the process of vision loss.2,Low-vision patients with monocular rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgery possessed poor status which was not stable, including VRQoL, social support and psychological state. Transitional care of these patients was essential.3,Low-vision patients with monocular rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgery may occurrent retinal detachment again. Transitional care can reduce the re-occurrence rate and save the residual vision.4,Transitional care may promote the stability of vision and improve the poor state, so as to reduce the re-occurrence rate of RD.Meanwhile the targeted guidance and care to the low vision patients encouraged patients to adapt the low vision and improved the quality of life.5,For low-vision patients with monocular rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgery, the model of transitional care can be taken the "Hospital-Family" care mode.
