Globalization has promoted the exchange of various regions of the world; it has positive implications for regional economic development and cultural progress. Meanwhile, as advances in technology and the rapid development of information technology have accelerated the globalization process, the difference between regions is rapidly shrinking. The cycle of cultural change was shortened; the phenomenon of cultural convergence is more popular. In the Areas of rapid economic development, the regional culture has disappeared; cities become dull and plain, and have lost the culture and characteristics. We have to admit that, as Globalization promoting cultural progress, it also brought the destruction of regional culture.Regional culture is one of the basic conditions for the existence of architectural features, cultural convergence will inevitably lead to architecture convergence between the regions. Architectural culture, architectural style, and sense of place are gradually disappearing for the lack of foundation of survival. The"world longevity town"Bama is Located in the northwest of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It has formed unique regional architecture because of the impact of geography, climate, economic and cultural. In the past, the communication between Bama and the outside world was very limited; its unique regional architecture was well preserved. In recent years, with a huge influence of"world longevity town", the local government launched a number of large tourism projects.and made Bama,"the lost pure land in the world"increasingly noisy. Along with the fall of traditional architecture, the unique local culture of Bama is facing an unprecedented crisis. With the theory of critical regionalism, the research based on geography, climate, economy and culture of Bama for the design strategies of regional architecture will help us protect the regional characteristics by architecture design. In the first part of the thesis, the author conducted a comprehensive analysis of the research background, purpose and significance as well as the research status. Critical regionalism is the theoretical foundation of the research. In the second part of the thesis, the author consolidated and summarized the origin and development of critical regionalism as well as the core of critical regionalism in different periods. Then the author summarized architectural design strategies based on the critical regionalism. At last , the author put forward the understanding and consideration of critical regionalism. The original strategies of architectural design and construction technology in Bama are the focus of this research. So the author made repeated trips to Bama for field survey and data collection, and obtained a large number of first-hand information of the background of geography, climate, economy and cultural, as well as location and layout of traditional settlement, regional architecture materials, traditional architecture space, traditional construction techniques and traditional construction organization. By Consolidation and induction of the first-hand information, the author put forward his own consideration of the original strategies of architectural design and construction technology in Bama.Based on the above, the author refined and improved the original strategies of architectural design and construction technology in Bama on the basis of the critical regionalism, finally Put forward the "Contemporary Regional Architecture Design Strategies in Bama" Based on geography, climate, economy, culture of bama as the final results of this research. The Appendix contains the planning and architectural design of Huayu ecological health resort in Bama. This project basd on the final results of this thesis is completed by Green Architecture Research Center of HUST and Kengo Kuma and Associates. The author hopes that the project could be helpful for the architecture design conducted in Bama. Finally, the author hope this thesis could provide a useful reference for the contemporary regional architecture design and help us explore the road of regional architecture design for specific regions of China.
