With the increase of car ownership and the rapid development of road transport industry, the number of road traffic accidents is increasing too. Pedestrian-vehicle collision is the main type in road traffic accidents, which is characterized by high mortality and close relation to people's travel. So it is paid much attention to by the whole community.In the course of the pedestrian-vehicle collision, the collision speed of the vehicle is the main basis for the determination of accidents. As for vehicle- pedestrian collision, there is few live marks left in the scene of the accident. What's worse, there are no brake marks of the tires especially with the application of the anti-lock braking system in modern cars. Therefore, an accurate and effective approach to identify the speed is a difficult problem in the car accident now.First, this thesis carried out detailed discussions about the types of vehicle- pedestrian collision and analyzed the general methods for the reconstruction of vehicle speed in the accident. Then, according to national traffic system data, the status and characteristics of domestic accidents were analyzed; for the pedestrian-vehicle accidents in Shandong Peninsula and around in recent years, statistical analysis of accident data was carried out. Besides, the discipline of vehicle- pedestrian collisions was summed up, and the age,agenda of the pedestrian, the types of vehicles, and other related factors were also studied in this paper.This research work, which was based on real road traffic accidents combining with computer simulation, obtained evaluation model of collision speed with a certain degree of feasibility and credibility. It provided much reference value for the further study of the reproduction of the vehicle speed in pedestrian-vehicle collisions.For there is few scene marks in pedestrian-vehicle collisions, through building a mathematical model for reconstruction of vehicle speed in pedestrian-vehicle accidents and studying the relation between the vehicle speed and the final pedestrian-vehicle distance, the method of the reproduction of vehicle speed was studied in the paper. Based on the statistics data obtained from real traffic accidents cases, the reconstruction model for defining vehicle speed and the formula for estimating the speed were built by using the final location of the vehicle in the accident along with simulation software. According to each vehicle speed estimation model, the weight coefficient for every model was defined, and the comprehensive evaluation model for the reconstruction of vehicle speed was obtained.Finally, by combining the comprehensive evaluation model of the vehicle speed and real cases of road traffic accidents, the paper showed the feasibility of the proposed model built for the reconstruction of vehicle speed.This research work, which was based on real road traffic accidents and combined with computer simulation, has obtained evaluation model of collision speed with a certain degree of feasibility and credibility. It provides much reference value for the further study of the reproduction of the vehicle speed in vehicle- pedestrian collisions.
