The current economic boom and the prosperity of tourism are driving forces behind the soaring construction of Zengarden in China. The theory and practice have become a hot spot.This article describes the corelation between Zen Buddism and garden, and draw a summary to the artistic expression of traditional Zen garden, such as spatial configuration view, symbol contrast, turned a deaf ear, regulatory and other techniques. As to the element of the garden, there are plants with a spiritual connotation, Garan layout of temple, rocks and gravel as a metaphor. Suzhou garden Lion and Japan Ryoanji Zen garden are described to analyzed the traditional gardens.In the modern part there are summarizes of modern Zen garden gardening techniques as well as the expression of elements,compared to the traditional gardens, the modern Zen garden changes little on the number of artistic expression, while the content is much more rich. In the garden elements, mainly draw the summary from the pavement with a formal language, the sculpture of garden as a space, modern style formations of color, rich varietis of gravel, the static water and garden plants with spiritual content. Finally, the paper exemplifies how to use the modern expression of the Zen garden gardening techniques to create a dilute ethereal Zen by illustrating the site, significance, layout and key points of the environment design of Zengarden in Yifeng City of Jiangsu Province.
