Modern times in Wuhu begins from the year of 1876 when the city started port opening,it ends in 1949 when the Peoples republic of China was founded.In the process of modernization in Wuhu,The modernization of architecture reflects the modernization course of Wuhu from one side.These types of modern buildings with rich characteristics,In style,shape,space,technology and other aspects are reflected in the remarkable modern characteristics,they are a valuable historical heritage.But after the looting of war and the reconstruction of the urbanization process after the founding of the people's Republic of China,The precious buildings were badly damaged.Urgent need for research and protection.This dissertation takes the modern architecture in Wuhu as the research object,Through extensive field investigations,Collected a wealth of first-hand information,On the basis of data integration,Taking the style,shape,space and technical features of architectural ontology as the key research content,Combined with the background of modern society,culture,history and urban development in Wuhu,Combing the development process of modern architecture in Wuhu.Based on the study of Wuhu modern architecture,the dissertation sort out the basic form of modern architecture in Wuhu,which is summarized up as "Five styles" and "the five spatial patterns",and the architectural style in different degree reflects the degree of hybridity of Chinese and Western architectural culture,at the same time the construction mode of modern architecture in Wuhu has both localization and advanced characteristics.This dissertation discusses the evolution of modern architecture in Wuhu,which is in the process of combining western architectural culture and native culture going through three channels of communication,using "Five styles" of architecture as material carrier,the evolution path was produced from "Passive Implants" to "in the light of its general trend" to "active acceptance".This evolution path shows the dynamic characteristics of" down-top".And this can provide a comparable sample for the study of other small and medium sized cities in China during the modern times.
