Western Planting Design And Its References

With the increasing exchange of foreign study in recent years, domestic academe began to stress on the virtue and inspiration by western landscape theory, and as the main element in the landscape design, plant and planting design became more and more important for us to learn. This thesis focuses on the traditional and contemporary western planting design through its history and theory, learn and absorb the essences of the western planting design theory and put into practice in our own landscape design.This study includes four main sections:"Introduction" focuses on the research background, literature review and research purpose."Traditional Western planting design"outlines the planting design history on ancient western world, medieval Europe, Italian Renaissance garden, the French formal garden and English nature style garden, including its cultural background, representatives and works and its significance on the future planting design"Modern Western planting design under the influence of contemporary Ideological trend " stresses on the culture background and planting design of American urban parks movement, Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau, Modernism Landscape Movement, Minimalism, Land Art and the Ecomovement"Ideas and methods of Western planting design and its references" stresses on the good elements of the Western planting design and gives some perspectives on the future development of planting design in China.
