Based on cascade development engineering of ShiXi river watershed in ChongQing, ChengKou, in the paper, the current situation and problems of the small watershed cascade development were researched through the on-the-spot investigation. The evaluation model of small hydropower station cascade development of small watershed was established. The Analytic Hierarchy process was used in this model. Through using the model, the feasibility of the project about cascade development engineering of Shi Xi river watershed was analysed, so as to provide the theoretical basis for evaluating the small hydropower station cascade development of small watershed project.The main work of this paper can be summarized as following:(1) Collect and analyse the domestic and foreign relevant research results, analyse the current situation and research degree of water and electricity energy development in small watershed at home and abroad, and the advantage and disadvantage of river basin cascade development were summarized.(2) Proceed the on-the-spot investigation in river basin of Shi Xi ,collect the economy, hydrology, meteorology, geology, humanities, environment and other materials of the river basin; simplify the river bed shape within the river basin, and the geometric and calculus were used to established the relationship between all the different dam height and the river basin area, the relationship between dam cost and dam height, development benefit and area of river basin were also established; the cost and benefit of cascade development were researched from the water conservancy elements, the dam cost, the benefits after watershed development and so on.(3) Establish a comprehensive benefit evaluation system of hydroelectric energy cascade development in small watershed, including the significance, basis and principle of building the evaluation system, the establishment of the evaluation system, and the determination of each index value. This evaluation model can be solved with analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Explain this evaluation system in detail and apply it in cascade development of Shi Xi River Basin.(4) Based on the hydrological condition, geological condition and economy et al. in Shi Xi River Basin, the type of diversion dam was compared and suggested.
