Research On The Urban Spatial Structure Of Suzhou By Building An Innovative City-Oriented

With the spread of economic globalization and more and more intensive competition in the international market, it is the inevitable choice for a city to introduce innovative talents, develop innovation-type economy and establish the innovative system in order to face this situation. China proposed the national target of building the innovation-type country in 2006, and it is crucial to establish innovation-type city to achieve this national target. Many functional elements will be affected by establishing the innovative city, and it will change the urban spatial qualitatively and quantitatively, specially, will change the the urban spatial structure.Suzhou proposed the goal of building an innovation-oriented city in2006 and it was approved as one of the national pilot cities in 2010. Suzhou is located in the Yangtze River Delta, one of the economically developed regions in China, and benefits from the development of Shanghai. Therefore, Suzhou is the typical city whose city space changes rapidly.We study the influence of city space structure caused by establishing the innovative city in Suzhou, basing on how innovative factors influence the development of city space structure. In this article, we summarize the six main innovative factors for the innovative city, they are innovative system, innovative industrial, innovative technology, innovative environment, innovative talents and innovative cultural.It concludes that there is homogeneity between the influence factor of the city space structure and that of innovative elements. Basing on this conclusion .The innovative elements are divided into three types, dominant element, recessive element and 1/2 element after studying the different role of innovative factors in different development levels of city space structure during the different periods.Through the research of the evolution of city space structure in Suzhou, it is summarized that dominant element and 1/2 element are the two major innovative elements to influence the city space structure in Suzhou. Finally, we explore the trends of city space structure of Suzhou in the future.
