China has entered a period of rapid urbanization, urban space and the industry isspreading to rural areas rapidly, especially in urban-rural areas of Southern JiangsuProvince, built-up areas are closely linked, and spreading along the traffic trunks, and theurban-rural spatial structure is changing. In the context of this development, there havebeen various node diseases in urban-rural areas. Therefore, it is valuable to discuss that, with the high level of urbanization and after entering the post-industrial period, how willthe urban-rural spatial structure develop and how to solve the problems among thedevelopment of urban-rural areas. This article is divided into four parts. First, summarize the emphasis of the theorywhich associated with the evolution of urban-rural spatial, systematically review therelational researches at home and abroad; second, study the evolution of the development ofurban-rural areas in domestic and international, to find the development rules of the urbanruralspatial structure through sorting the theory and practice, then summarize the trends infuture. Third, put forward the idea of developed equalization urban-rural spatial structure infuture, and use System Theory to describe the equalization urban-rural spatial structuresystematically; prove the balance on the urban-rural areas spatial structure with networkformation through the theory of dissipative structure which explains the running and thedevelopment steps of the system of urban-rural areas. Finally, take Suzhou City for anexample, analyses the existing characteristics of balanced development based on thesummarization of its urban-rural areas evolution process and urbanization characteristics, and then proposed the specific measures of optimizing its structure and developpingequalization urban-rural spatial structure.
