With the speedy development of the Chinese national economy and the scaling of the urbanization progress, transportation congestion has become an instant headache for all the cities to solve. In accordance with the construction planning of urban railway transport announced by the National Development & Reform Commission, the metro line totaling more than 1200km has been planned to build by the year 2010, during which period a number of 6000 urban transit vehicles equipped with 50,000-plus sets of automatic door systems have been constructed. All this has contributed to the blooming of urban transit industry. As the international oil price is shooting up, countries all around the world are being disturbed by the energy problem. Some expert has predicted that the railway transport industry globally will face new development opportunity under the pressure of high oil price.Among all the three types of train door applied on the urban transit vehicles, sliding plug door stands out with its comprehensive performance. However, its poor closing feature has also bothered a lot of manufacturers, which is also the reason why it cannot fully replace the other two doors. No specific research has been conducted on the occurrence mechanism of the poor closing performance of sliding plug door to date.This paper carries out research on the closing feature of sliding plug door by taking into consideration the interacting functional parts of door system under the condition of the overall train system. The mechanics calculation model of closing process of sliding plug door is established and the rule regarding effect of key factors on closing process of sliding plug door have been calculated and analyzed. On this basis, optimization is made on the current track function of the train door and its efficiency has been assessed.
