The modern men's wear is created and decided during the French Revolution. The dress code of men's wear and the definition of masculinity are also decided during the Victoria's era, which are still playing important role in defining what is"decent"and"proper"today. The traditionally deviated androgynous men's fashion was created in the late 50s by subculture groups, then it became popular as the subculture groups were growing and the leisure life style was becoming prominent, and it finally got to the top in the mid 70s with the appearance of Disco fashion. As it was resurging old traditions in the 80s, androgynous fashion became less popular during the period. However, as the fashion industry was moving into a new decade, men's fashion began to show features such as diversity and rejuvenation, in which androgyny became popular again. Androgyny become more and more important in modern men's wear design, it shows up in almost every show in the appearance of a men skirt in avant-garde men's wear design, or a colorful suit in classic men's wear design, or a transparent chiffon shirt in a smart sexy men's wear design. As the development of consumer society and globalization, there is also a promising future of androgynous men's wear in China. And as a social phenomenon, androgyny also has a profound theoretical basis in psychology, sociology and philosophy.
