In the university to carry out the Marine general education is the effective way to improve Marine environmental consciousness of citizens. The investigation on application of inquiry teaching in Marine general courses in colleges provides a new thinking in theory for university Marine general courses teaching, enriching the application of inquiry teaching in university. In practice, this investigation helps to improve the general education for university Marine courses teaching, improve the teaching effects, strengthen students' inquiry abilities and promote their ascension of Marine consciousness. According to the situation about the implementation of inquiry teaching in university Marine courses, this investigation analyzes the influential factors of inquiry teaching effect and students'feedback, in order to improve and perfect the application of inquiry teaching in university.On the basis of state and trend of the inquiry teaching development, this investigation, through clarify the concepts of inquiry learning and inquiry-based learning, analyzes the inquiry teaching existing mode of Marine ecology, the Guangzhou university Marine general courses. The researcher takes a questionnaire and an interview about inquiry teaching. Then the researcher analyzes the influence factors on college inquiry teaching effect, collects teaching evaluation of students. thus put forward the opinion of Marine general courses of the Marine ecology inquiry teaching mode of existing suggestion for improvement. According to the improvement Suggestions of students, the researcher improves the old mode of inquiry teaching, in the new issue of "Marine ecology" class period, organizes the student to carry on tides experiment, a practice of the month-long exploring project, to evaluate the effects of improvement, by questionnaire and interview.There are several conclusions as following in this investigation: (1) The following factors are the main factors of inquiry teaching effect: the gender, native place, professional disciplines and early experience. (2) the existing Marine general education inquiry teaching mode focus on the show in class, but overlook the group cooperation and evaluation and interaction. (3) The university Marine general courses inquiry teaching should apply a variety of evaluation means to assess students' participation in the discussion of the display, stimulate students' enthusiasms and interesting in inquiry, add in practicality inquiry project, set up on-line courses and provide more curriculum sources. (4) Practicality inquiry project not only promote the grasp of inquiry skills but also fever to the inquiry capability, corporation awareness and problem solving abilities.
