In order to evaluate the quality of physics experiment teaching and cultivate the personof high qualities, the essay has probed into the direction of the development and theinnovation trend of the neoteric experiment according to the current conditions of neotericphysics lab. Adding the newest scientific contents and the advanced technologies not onlyenriches the contents of the experiments, but also broadens the students' view and studentsmay have opportunities contacting the front fields and sophisticated technologies.The essay has discoursed upon the importance of introducing the research items to theneoteric physics experiment on the basis of the object of neoteric physics teaching. It hasanalyzed the characteristics of neoteric physics experiment and inquiry experiment, and hasdiscussed how to open inquiry experiment successfully. According to the conditions of theneoteric physics experiment lab of northeast normal university and the level of it'sdevelopment, by enriching the experiment contents and forms, the experiments can not onlymake students master the skills of operating the equipments of high technologies but alsocultivate the students' abilities of discovering problems, analyzing problems and solvingproblems.Relying on the conditions of the physics experiment lab of northeast normal universityand the current experiments that we have opened, "the storage of tolerable azo dyes materialsintermingled with polymer " and "the characteristics of double refractions of azo dyesmaterials mingled with polymer", we discussed the feasibilities of opening the experiment ofmeasuring materials' third-order susceptibilities. By doing the inquiry experiment, studentscan master the way of studying the materials' third-order susceptibilities by strong lasers, andalso can learn the basic ways and techniques of doing scientific research.The essay has introduced the theory knowledge of nonlinear optics and analyzed thenonlinear optical phenomenon of the materials. It demonstrated the principle of the DFWMand Z-scan. The experiment has adopted the DFWM to study the third-order nonlinearphenomenon of the material MO/PVA. By analyzing the operational practicalities of theinquiry experiment, the article has concluded the basic ideas of designing the inquiryexperiment course.
