Regional Spatial Planning Theory And Method

Influenced by economic globalization and economic system change, regional planning is faced with new development requirements. In a new period, attention is increasingly given to space planning as a whole, which makes it become an integral part of regional planning.County planning is the fundamental one in the planning system in China. So it is an important task for regional planning to strengthen research on county planning. YiZheng , a county-level city located in the middle of JiangSu with a moderate economic level in JiangSu ,is in the stage of economic takeoff. So it is necessary to conduct space planning as a whole to achieve economic sustained development. This paper chooses YiZheng city as an example to approach the application of regional space planning theories and methods.First, the author defines regional space planning and its related concepts .Carding the related research at home and abroad, the author introduces the basic theories of regional planning and advances a point of view that regional space structural analysis and functional divisions are the main content of regional space planning according to the new development requirements of regional planning. Second, space structural analysis and divisions of main functional areas are conducted on space planning in YiZheng. Stress is laid on method and process of functional divisions. Last, the author points out that it is necessary to work out special programmes of main function areas and structure coordinating mechanism between different competent departments and administrative areas to ensure the enforcement of space planning.
