In recent years, how to carry out scientific and reasonable performance appraisal often becomes the hot topic studied and discussed by Chinese and foreign scholars. Selection of indexes can be said the most important part in performance appraisal. ZS group on the performance appraisal of the general manager of subsidiary company also exist problems, and the improvements to the performance appraisal is also facing a difficult problem.At present there are many enterprises have associated competency model with performance appraisal, and used competency model to guide the selection of performance appraisal indexes. This article adopts the method of comparative study, through research and analysis of "the survey of state-owned enterprise middle-level competency model", "the enterprise senior management team competency structure system" proposed by Xu Wanli, and "the private entrepreneurs’ competency structure" proposed by Song Peilin, putting forward ZS group company general manager competency model. And the competency model is the basis of selected appraisal indexes.Paper mainly includes six parts:the first part is the introduction, introduces the main research object, research purpose, research task, research significance, research methods and innovations; The second part mainly introduces the performance appraisal, enterprise life cycle model, competence and competency model for later reference, this article research results will also be based on these theories; The third part mainly introduces the ZS group situation, performance appraisal of general manager the subsidiary company of present situation and existing problems; The fourth part of the paper systemically analyzed the reason of ZS group subsidiary of the general manager performance appraisal reasons; The fifth part is the core part of the paper, the improvement project of the performance appraisal will be designed, including building the ZS group company general manager competency model, designing a new performance appraisal form and pointing out the attention matters of the project process; The sixth part summarizes the research achievements of this paper, and pointed out the shortcomings.
