In the period of WEB 2.0, public intellectuals are active in the Internet, who take delight in criticizing and commenting on the issues of politics, economy and culture, public events or hot focuses in the society. Their points of view are easier to communicate by various ways (e.g. blog, mini-blog, BBS etc.) on the Internet, which have an impact on the authority, bring out public opinion, have some influence on the main stream media. To some extent, the blogs of public intellectuals have gradually played significant roles in the public sphere, constituting a new dimension of discursive power. This thesis aims at how the public intellectuals form their influences by blogs, and on which aspects they convey.This thesis has defined the phrase"public intellectuals", abstracted the relation of marriage on the public intellectuals and media from the historical dimension of Modern China, which provides the theory support for"public intellectuals expressing on the blog". This thesis proposes the"brand effect"and"group effect"of the public intellectuals as"Opinion Leader"by blogs, based on the analysis of characters and advantages of blog. Meanwhile, the thesis explores the route and explicit aspects of the influence which is expressed by public intellectuals through case-study of textual analysis. The blogs of public intellectuals have become unprecedented power as a"we media". They own the previous function and powerful ability of leading the public opinion. As a result, the blogs could breakthrough the traditional pattern that only traditional media controls and investigates the public opinion.
