Composed of drainage pipe network, sewage disposal plants, and pumping sta-tions, the drainage system of a city which plays a great part in sewage disposal, flood prevention, flood control and etc, is one of the most vital infrastructures which support and guarantee economical development and people's lives. With the soaring develop-ment of our economy, the expanding of city scale, the quickening space of social life, and the high degree of population centralization, more and more requirements are put on the management of the drainage system in a city. The drainage system is character-ized with complicated and crisscross structures, wide distribution, great volumes of information and query, long term reservation, and continuous operation. However, the traditional management mode by hand can not immediately, accurately, and efficiently store, manage, inquire, and analyze the city drainage information featured with mass amount, three dimensions, typical spatial distribution and chronological sequence. Neither can it provide accurate decision-making evidences for the drainage manage-ment department. Therefore, it is urgent for drainage management department to en-hance the working efficiency and managing skills by updating and transforming the traditional management mode and service mode with the use of information technol-ogy.GIS has been developed expansively in the last ten years and the developed coun-tries have already applied the GIS technology to many aspects of municipal admini-stration. The particular spatial statistics visualization and spatial analysis functions of GIS provide great technological supports for the informational management of the city drainage system which is spatially distributed. It is an inevitable trend to adapt GIS to the city drainage management.By the combination of GIS technology and Geodatabase technology and taking into account the requirements of drainage management department, this thesis aims to research, design, and develop the City Drainage Comprehensive Information Platform. The main research and developing work are as follows:1. analyze the requirement of the City Drainage Comprehensive Information Plat-form and put forward the drainage comprehensive information platform structure based on the mixed modes of B/S and C/S.2. apply object-oriented Geodatabase module and design drainage system Geoda-tabase and fulfill it with the use of UML.3. develop and fulfill systematic functions by adopting the mainstream GIS tech-nologies based on ArcGIS Serve and ArcObjects. Develop subsystems, such as drain-age pipe network GIS, sewage disposal plant, remote data management and drainage information Web GIS. Fulfill the integrated management and analysis of the city drainage system.4,analyze the short points the traditional network analysis algorithm has in drainage network analysis, propose improved algorithm based on the simplified net-work theory and design the statistic structure which is suit for the algoritm. This platform has been applied to Kunming sewage disposal and operation de-partments,and provides complete and accurate basic statistics and supports for the city drainage management department, thus improving the efficiency of the drainage man-agement department.
