Now Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a hot spot in the domestic and abroad research area. The WSN technology colligates the technologies of the sensors, embedded computing, modern network, wireless communication and distributed computation, and so on. It can monitor, sense and gather all kinds of real-time information on the scene.The design of WSN routing algorithms is one of most active research fields in WSN. In the early days of WSN research, people used to believe that the Internet technique and Ad-hoc routing mechanism is enough to wireless sensor networks design. However, the thorough research indicates that the Wireless Sensor Network is different from traditional network in technical requirements.This thesis researches the routing algorithms of WSN. Firstly, the development and the architecture of WSN are introduced. Secondly, several typical and representative routing algorithms, such as Flooding protocol, LEACH, PINS, Directed Diffusion, are analyzed and compared, and the advantages and disadvantages of them are pointed out. According to the researches of these routing algorithms, a new routing algorithm which based on LEACH protocol and negotiation mechanism called Negotiation- Based Safe Protocol is presented aiming at the disadvantages of routing security and energy-consuming. The routing algorithm combines with centralized and distributed method, maintains multiple routing, has the feature of active-self dynamic self-adaptive and involves safety mechanism.The simulation and safety testing to the NBSP in the NS2 environment are given, the simulation results are analyzed, and the comparison with other routing protocols are presented. According to the result of simulation and security testing, NBSP is proved to be a protocol with higher throughput, higher safety and longer network life cycle in the low Energy consumption level.Finally,the thesis addresses the application of sensor network in coal mine safety monitoring system and applies the NBSP routing protocol in the sensor network data transmission, it provides a solution to the application of sensor network in coal mine safety monitoring system.
