In some situations which require real-time transmission of video images, people operate equipments on the scene to collect video images and transmit them real-time to the monitoring room wirelessly. This paper mainly completed the design of hardware and software for the collection and transmission module of digital video images.This paper falls into three parts. The first part introduces the characteristics of image information and wireless digital video images and lists various methods of short-distance wireless transmission.2.4GHz wireless transmission is employed in this paper to transmit digital video images. Then this part gives a brief introduction to the chips used in designing the transmitter. They are the video decoder chip SAA7113, the controlling chip TMS320DM642 and the wireless transceiver chip nRF24L01.The second part introduces the main work of this paper—the hardware design and software design of the transmitter. In accordance with the ideas of modularization design, the hardware design of the transmitter is divided into three modules:video collection module, controlling module and transmission module. This part then introduces the design of communication interface between video collection module and controlling module and between controlling module and transmission module, and the design of hardware circuit of transmission module, and also introduces in detail from the drawing of schematic diagram to the design process of PCB board in transmission module. In software design, this part introduces the program flow chart of the transmitter. The TMS320DM642 kernel, memorizer mapping, the guide mode, the device configuration, interruption, and McBSP interface are initialized in programming according to the program flow chart. Then TMS320DM642 initializes the video decoder chip SAA7113 to collect digital video images and initializes the wireless transceiver chip nRF24L01 to transmit the collected digital video images.The third part introduces the debugging process of the transmitter and also the problems in debugging and the solutions. Through debugging, short-distance wireless transmission of digital video images is realised.
