Technology of image fusion is the new the image processing technology which developed on the base of the basic theory of information fusion technology, nowadays the technology is widely used in the field of medical diagnosis, remote sensing, computer vision, weather forecasting and identification of military targets.In recent years, digital signal processor as one of fast and real-time processing vector, has been widely applied. With the development of DSP technology, DSP-based image processing system has been widely used in various fields, and also provides the possibility of the realization of real-time image fusion processing. The dissertation open up deeply study with the task "hardware design of infrared and visible-light image fusion system". We set up FPGA-based infrared Focal Plane Array image acquisition system and a high-speed multi-processor-based real-time image registration and fusion system platform. Reference the last 320×240 system, combine the working principle of the new UL03041 IFPA, a new 384×288 system is proposed. We choose Cyclone III-EP3C55F484C8 as the core chip to complete the acquisition of the infrared image, and use TMS320DM642 to complete a large number of computing to meet the need of high-speed real-time multi-source image registration and fusion, and we use FPGA to control acquisition and Synchronization of the sensor video. We still do some improve work to the system: make the system can accept the analog signal provided by the camera and the digital signal provide by the FPGA at the same time. We also add FPGA to the system for the extension in the future.
