Based on the theory of the matched filter, the bandwidth-duration product of the signal can be made greater than one, by the way of using the pulse width to add to the method of LFM signal band. In this way, the intrinsic contradiction of the radar horizon and the radar resolution can be largely solved, so that the pulse compression technique is widely used in the radar system. With the development of the technology of CPLD and FPGA, using FPGA to achieve pulse compression system is more and more advanced than the DSP devices. Using FPGA to achieve the pulse compression system will have higher efficiency and with lower costs, and can be able to hang with the other functions.Using FPGA achieve the pulse compression system has become inevitable. The wideband signals which have high anti-interference ability, the ability of high resolution, information-bearing ability, and weak correlation with background noise is widely used in modern radar. The use of the wideband signals is also an inevitable trend of the modern radar.Based on the basic principle of the pulse compression of the LFM signal, a signal processing system to achieve the real-time processing of the wideband signal was designed.The system was implemented by using FPGA, and reached the target.The main work is summarized as follows:1. The basic theory of linear frequency modulation signal (LFM) was analyzed. The processings of signals which are used in to achieve pulse compression processing were analyzed.2. Based on the analysis of the given target, the ADC, DDC and pulse compression which were used to achieve the pulse compression processing of the target signal, and the uses of the IP Core which were used to achieve the system were introduced.3. A wideband real-time signal pulse compression system was designed, and some comprehensive tests were made. Based on the tests, the analysis of the system was gived at last.
