Xichang Institute Of Integrated Information Management System Function

In the process of college management informatization, a proper management system is badly needed to administer a huge amount of information, to improve the management efficiency, to standardize the information management, and to facilitate scientific statistics and fast inquiry. The management systems applicable to colleges have been developed and used constantly. These management systems have developed from the early stand-alone version applicable to inner department management only, to the network which greatly enhanced information sharing and data collection. Therefore, management efficiency was improved a lot. However, school-running models and management systems are different and each management system may put emphasis on just one aspect the management so the systems, used by different departments, are mutually independent, which resulted in the low degree of information sharing among the systems and even inconsistency of the basic data.Based on an extensive survey of the demand of our college, the"College Comprehensive Information Management System"is designed in accordance with our college's establishment of organizations and relevant working procedures. This system consists of two parts: student information management system and teacher information management system. It includes ten modules: student basic information management, school-roll information management, management of student management of information, employment information management, student fee management, information management of the teachers'basic archives, information management of the research and projects'archives, information management of theses archives, information management of learning service archives and system management. This well integrated the leading bodies'management and the bureaus and departments'management into one system. The student's basic information comes from enrollment information, which guarantees of the consistency of basic data and avoids the repeated input of the basic information. And data sharing is maximized too.The system adopts B/S mode and the webs are designed by using middleware techniques of ASP Web database. Chinese SQL Server 2000 is used as the design platform. In addition, the system is designed by using modularization programming. It exhibits good extendibility and safety. This paper introduces the system's functions and principle, describes the design and implementation process, gives the results achieved and the problems to be resolved.The system has powerful functions and its operation is easy. It will be more convenient for the teachers and students in our college to mange information by using this system. It enables the realization of corresponding management functions and inquiry functions. It provides strong support for our college's data-collection, analysis and decision-making.
