Sybase Database Oasys System

OASYS is a kind of SCADA (SUPERVISORY CONTROL AND DATA ACQUISITION) system software developed by VALMET Company in Canada in 1989. Currently, it is used widely in automatic system of the oil gas pipelines for long distance in petrol industry, which is mainly composed of function modules such as: CMX, XISS, and XOS. CMX deals with the collection and conduction of information, examination of emergency condition, storage real-time data, communication with RTU or PLC, and permission of the control orders from clients to the field instruments. XIS provides storage room for the historical data (acquired 5 minutes ago) from CMX. Data list set by clients and tendency chart are also provided by XIS. XOS supplies man/machine interaction interface, such as: data statistics, dynamic charts, controlling instrument dialogue box and command interface operated by mouse. The historical database functions as collection, selection, storage, inquiry, filing, reduction, deletion and third-party visit of field data. Sybase, a relative database system developed by Sybase Company in America, is a typical maxi-database system which is under the conditions of server and client-server based on UNIX or Windows NT. A set of application program programming interface and base supplied by Sybase could compound with non-sybase data sources and copy data among databases, which is suitable for the establishment of multi-application. Sysbase, the historical database (XIS) of OASYS system, satisfies the requirement of SCADA pipe system with its favorable openness and security.Based on practical application, this article studied the application of SYBASE in OASYS. Focusing on the functions of XIS in OASYS and compounding the relationship between function modules:CMX and XOS,it analyzed the function structure of OASYS's XIS;achieved the application of relational database SYSBASE in OASYS's XIS and third-party visit of XIS.
