Design, Basic Education Integration Platform Based On Web Services

Shanghai Chang Ning District is now equipped with School Management System, Entrance System and other various functional systems. As each of the systems is established by different functional department and is on the basis of different system structure, the entire system platform is lack of overall planning and therefore an integrated information platform is tremendously needed for the elementary educational system to realize the resource-sharing and information communication. The platform as a whole is aimed to achieve the effect of sharing the data among different functional departments. This platform is not only useful for those teachers or functional departments, but also helps the elementary education administers to know about the latest data so as to provide the support for decision-making when they handle the daily or urgent affairs.Firstly, the present situation and challenges for Chang Ning District is described in order to exhibit the essential importance of setting up the Web Services-based platform. Secondly, the main functional modules of the platform are discussed including the major process of data collecting for freshmen, student's entrance, and transferring. Then the structure of the information platform is analyzed. By enveloping original applications as web services on application level and adding application objects to the client end, the platform can assemble and re-deliver ex-message to each query service. Thus, the information is integrated from different platforms. Among all the functions, the application of Student's Entrance System and the School Management System is given the priority in our discussion. Finally, the expansibility and the ROI of the system are explained in this essay.
