Japan's Mainstream Newspapers In China Reported The Characteristics And Background Analysis,

Mass communication in Japan has developed rapidly in several decades.Remarkably,the circulation of some major newspapers has ranked top across the world. Therefore, Japanese newspapers exert great influences on Japanese people. Along with the progress of the reform and the opening-up policy in China, reports on China from Japanese media have covered not only Chinese politics and economy but issues in cultural and social aspects as well,becoming more and more extensive in scope.However, since the beginning of the 21st century, the more Japanese media report on China, the more damage they would inflict on Japanese people's image of China. Taking into account the influence of newspaper on Japanese people, the image of China in Japan is closely related to how Japanese newspapers report about China. By studying literatures on Japanese reports on China and by analyzing the features of mainstream Japanese newspaper reports on Beijing Olympic,this paper explores historical background and current features of Japanese reports on China and suggests its direction of development based on the analysis of the results and a wish to promote Sino-Japan friendship.The paper also explores the aspects Japanese media should amend in order to better realize media's real meaning and social responsibility.
