GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), which is developed on the basis of GSM (Global System For Mobile Communications), is one kind of new telecommunication business being applied universally. It provides data service by packet method. Before the application of the third generation mobile communication, GRPS becomes the main solution in provide information service for mobile systems. GPRS network is main data network in solving data transmission for the second generation data due to situation. With the rapid increase of the mobile consumers, there will be more and more problems in mobile network. On the one hand, it is necessary to improve the rationality and adaptability of the mobile network due to the disadvantages of the density of traffic, frequency resource and equipments from different manufacturers. On the other hand, more problems in GPRS network are revealed because of the increase of traffic and consumers. Communication operators need to pay more attention and fund for network optimization in order to supply much better service for consumers.According to the experience of wireless GPRS network optimization and test, this thesis introduces the theory of GPRS mobile communication system and related interface protocols in detail from the viewpoint of network optimization. It also shows parameters that affects the performance of GPRS. This thesis explains optimization flow in detail and finds problems that appear in GPRS optimization. Finally, a new software that used to adjust parameters is designed. From the example of CQT test, a detailed solution is proposed in resolving the problems of business access, data transfer, exceptional PDP off line and exceptional TBF off line.
