As the modern science and technology develop rapidly, wearable computer has became an important develop trend for modern computer. Wearable computer has the characteristics such as micromation, wearablity; mobility. It has wide prospects of application in industry, military, medical ward, etc. Therefore, the design and research of high functioning and low power consuming wearable computer with the core of imbedded processing unit is of great importance.From the entire structure to the partial function, the whole design in this paper is based on modern EDA technology, using VHDL language on FPGA with the top down design method and modularizing design thought. The main work during the research and design are as follows:1. Considering the low costing, high mobility and micromation of wearable computer, by researching and comparing the common imbedded processing unit, finally decide to design a wearable computer system processing unit base on FPGA. It's a technology plan that combine both CPU's flexibility and commonality and ASIC's efficiency and keen price.2. According to the basic function of wearable computer such as data collection, communication, by comparing and researching the RISC and CISC repertoire, a suitable RISC repertoire is realized.3. According to the control signal needed by the data access, control access that can make the data access well-functioned is designed; VHDL is used to realize control access and break controller.4. Integrating the modules of CPU into a whole CPU, aimming at different CPU function and simulating with the programme written by the designed command set; the simulation could be found in accordance with the platform verification by downloading the circuit file to hardware platform to verify, The result shows the validity of the designed CPU.
