Fog not only inconveniences people's travel, but also affects the image quality of the outdoor monitoring, detection, navigation systems so seriously that they can't work properly. So researches on how to solve such problem are of great practical value. Robust image processing hardware and image enhancement algorithm are two keys to solving that problem.This thesis is focused on the study of image processing hardware and image enhancement algorithm. The main research work includes:1,Three common image enhancement algorithms against fog weather are researched and implemented on PC. With the performances and processing time comparison, the advantages and disadvantages of the three algorithms are discussed and the most appropriate algorithm is selected;2,The implementation scheme of the real-time image enhancement processor is proposed according to the system requirement. In this scheme, TMS320DM648—the newest multimedia DSP of TI company and Actel's ProASIC3 series FPGA are used to form a flexible embedded platform;3,The hardware design of the real-time image enhancement processor is finished, including the schematic design and PCB layout design, and the machining and soldering of the circuit is accomplished;4,The hardware debugging and part of software programming and testing of the video card are completed.
