Nowadays, some of our country's universities are faced with many problems in testing courses.The problems inelude the use of old test instruments and uninspiring course work.Updating the hardware is expensive and it is difficult to maintain them. The shortcoming of traditional experimental instluments is increasing obvious. Traditional laboratory has some shortcomings, including a variety of apparatus, high cost, single use, etc.Virtual instrument can solve that difficult position and be benefieial to improve the whole educational condition and teaching level.Usually Virtual instrument system is made up of data acquisition, data analysis and output display.Except some part of data acquisition is completed by hardware, the others are all realized by software.Software development is the core of virtual instrument design and implement. This article analyzes and researches virtual instrument, virtual instrument development environment-LabVIEW and virtual instrument hardware system. And it describes the software development process in detail by the LabVIEW programming language and the modular design method. Then it provides the principles, front panel diagrams and process diagrams of the six virtual instruments for laboratory teaching, which are the realized virtual transistor-characteristic tester, virtual signal generator, virtual digital filter, virtual harmonic analyzer, virtual sampling theorem demonstration instrument and virtual modem. The composed system by these instruments can be used in the specialty core curriculums' experiment teaching, such as electronic technology, signal and system and so on. Thus it can become a useful complement to the existing experiment teaching and enhances the flexibility and the compatibility of experiment teaching greatly.The teaching practice proved that the virtual experiments can raise students'interest in experiments and improve the quality of teaching.
