The background of this research is unattended sensor networks for the marine system. Modern warfare has evolved into the ocean and high-skilled, high-tech war. How to monitor the situation of the sea effectively, and deal with the unexpected events promptly and effectively will be important to ensure safety at sea. Furthermore, since the complexity of the marine environment, the means of cable wiring is not suitable. In order to overcome this difficulty, this thesis mainly discusses wireless data acquisition and transmission. The main task of this thesis is to design ARM-based wireless data transmission drive procedure and network communication applications procedure. The host controller hardware using ARM has successfully transplanted the Linux operating system as a software development platform to facilitate the following software design and hardware extensions. The wireless transmission module using USB wireless network card that is USB-WIFI has completed the ARM processor-based wireless network card driver design which has been proved to drive the USB-WIFI smoothly through several tests.Image Acquisition using USB interface camera has transplanted the Camera driver. Network communication applications using the TCP/IP protocol sends image data wirelessly to the main control platform through collecting the image data regularly and is convenient for staff of the main control platform to monitor the site.In addition, it must be explained that although this paper is accomplished at the background of the sea unattended sensor network system, the platform is widely used in traffic management, video monitoring in supermarkets and so on.
