Library-oriented Public Service Platform For Lifelong Learning Research

Nowadays, the traditional library service has been unable to meet the information needs of users in the network environment, so the digital libraries emerged because of the increasing demands for information. The traditional libraries and the digital libraries become to supplement each other in order to supply better and more comprehensive serves for the masses. There are two key problems exist in the modern library construction currently. For one thing, the traditional libraries can't really care to all the groups of users come from different levels of society when they are supplying services for the public; for the other thing, the content of the digital library construction tends to more professional, and has not formed a uniform technical standard system by now. With the development of society, the above two construction drawbacks bring a certain degree of difficulty to the public in using of new-type libraries which would be used as a lifelong learning place for the public. This thesis starts from the utilize needs by the public in libraries, focus and research on how to create a compositive and public-oriented library platform which can be used by the largest user groups. In such background, the thesis consisted of five parts:The first part is the introduction, in which the research subject of this thesis is briefly introduced and the current situation of the domestic and overseas research in this field is clearly expounded.The second part is mainly introducing the correlative definitions of public-oriented lifelong learning platform in libraries. Then, it discusses the necessity and feasibility in the construction of public-oriented lifelong learning platform.The third part raises both the building conceive for the public-oriented lifelong learning platform in libraries and the guiding principles in the construction of the platform, then this thesis gives a brief introduction to the contents of the construction.The fourth part is based on the third part. In this part, this thesis talks about the structure of platform in detail, that based on the building of traditional libraries, digital libraries and compound libraries, and can reach to an integrated entirety with resources, technology, services and management in it. The fifth part showed the current situation of the construction of public-oriented life-long learning platform, and discusses the development in the future.
