Nowadays in China, besides the trend of rapid development of science and technology, there are two most remarkable characteristics of the time, one is the transition of economy - the repeal of the planned economy and the start of market economy, the other is globalization - the globalization in economy, political and cultural so on. In such economic transition, globalization, and internationalization cross-cutting impact background, on the one hand, the television culture in contemporary China is bound by the the infection of market, on the other hand, affected by globalization. While,the globalization and marketization complement each other. They essentially pursuit the maximization of interests and profit. In the special circumstances, a "commercial culture" characteristic of television entertainment is bounded to exist reasonably.In this paper, television entertainment programs is the entry point. Through the analysis of political, economic and cultural environment in the social transition period of China, combined with description of the development of television entertainment since reform and opening up, this paper summerizes that the rise of television entertainment programs is the inevitable trend of development of the return of television entertainment functions.And it shows the maximum of the characteristics of popular culture. From the vision of TV entertainment programs, we can see their own implicit public entertainment and cultural mentality from its shallow-level form of expression. Deeply researched into the subversive agreement of individual social role behind the entertainment during a specific period of time and summed up the values of popular culture in the consumption society.The first part of this paper starts from the special social transition period which China has been experiencing, analyzes the background of the new era of cultural transition, r.s well as the whole society environment with a rise of television entertainment. And second part aims at the development of the "television entertainment fever" phenomenon, combined with the development of television entertainment context at home and abroad , clarifid the evolution of China's TV entertainment programs in a few years. The third part tracks the characteristics of popular culture from a cultural perspective, analyzes that television entertainment programs is a typical representative of popular culture, deeply analyzes the essential attributes of television, cultural identity of the consumption society, and contemporary social subversive aesthetic philosophy, summarizes the relationship between the functions of entertainment programms and the overall development in the social transition period.In the concluding part, the author deems that the emergence and development of television entertainment programs are inevitable because of the market economy system, social progress, and ever-increasing entertainment needs of the people.As a supplement of daily life, TV entertainment programs will continuously change the form of new programs, go on to develop, complete their function using limited entertainment desires to maintain an orderly society, realize the needs of the spirit of entertainment...
