Antitank trench is a kind of anti-tank obstacle which is most conventional and effective even in modern war. Especially on some complex terrain when the military strength and weapon is weaker it is very possible to make the best use of the sluggish function of antitank trench and turn the tables. Tank, which is named as a beast from land battle, has the performances of big firepower, strong maneuverability and effective protection. Tank is the main weapon in an uphill battle. It effects a battle much to make full use of tank's performances and strengthen its ability to overcome obstacle.This paper puts forward the technical concept of separable articulating device for tank according to tank's military environment and trench-crossing feature, where the separable articulating device links two tanks together to enhance tank's trench-crossing ability. Based on the ADAMS/View, ADAMS/ATV, construct the virtual type models of a single tank and articulating tank and put forward the basic structure of articulating device. Based on different soil physic mechanics nature and tank's trench-crossing parameters and according to the terrain and landform parameters in the ADMAS/ATV platform, construct the virtual terrain for different antitank trench which is consonant with physic mechanics nature. Conduct the trench-crossing ability simulation of a single tank and articulating tank in the condition of typical soil physic mechanics nature and different-width antitank trench. Analysis some kinematics and dynamics parameters of the articulating device, predict and evaluate its performance.Select the ball flange bolt in the articulating device, set up a simplified three-dimensional model of the articulating device, make use of ANSYS finite element method to make a stress analysis to the simplified model, and conclude the static stress state of the device in boundary condition.The result of the simulation indicates that the separable articulating tank is effective and it can improve tank's trench-crossing ability.
