Short-range radar simulator, which can receive RF signal, simulate and send the target echo signal, is the key part of short-range radar simulation system. It is used to simulate intersection simulation testing, performance testing, target detection and identification testing, under high-speed intersection conditions. Analysis and design of the principle of video signal processing part in short range radar simulator is studied primarily in the paper.A kind of real-time video signal simulator is composed of DSP and FPGA and has the functions of simulating radar target distance and speed. The echo modulation parameters can be set by the host computer in the system.The modulation function of the simulator is realized by FPGA, which receives target echo signal generated by DSP or echo data generated by host computer. A DDS source embedded in FPGA is added to generate orthogonal modulation data in order to do the system self-check.The DSP application program is developed, which includes EMIF interface, EDMA data moving, host computer data translation and FPGA interface control.At last, a research platform is on established and the functions of designed simulator are demonstrated, the feasibility of design is proved to be true by the test results.
