The paper investigates the selection of engineering design management information system by China Nerin Engineering Co., Ltd. (NERIN) and the application of Project Management Integrated System (PMIS2004) to engineering design management.First of all, through the research on engineering project management and engineering design management, the author compared and analyzed the differences between engineering construction projects at home and abroad in management model, construction procedure, division of design stage, etc, and discussed issues related to characteristics of engineering design, design workflow, main content of engineering design management, etc. providing references for study of engineering design management information system. In the selection of engineering design management information system, with the discussion and analysis of the functions and characteristics of popular project management and engineering design management information systems at home and abroad, taking into consideration of the main problems in system selection and the demand of NERIN, the author selected PMS2004 as the management information system for NERIN.Based on relevant studies of PMIS2004's fundamental theories, the author discussed earned value concept, work breakdown structure (WBS), organization breakdown structure (OBS) and their application on PMIS 2004and built WBS-OBS responsibility division matrix for NERIN in the light of practice. In the end, based on the summarization of the application of PMIS2004 in NERIN, the author discussed the relationship between PMIS2004 and engineering design management, the innovation and existing problems in application of PMIS2004, and its influence on company competitiveness.
