Qtp Gui Data-driven Test Automation Framework

Graphical User Interface(GUI) is the important interface where human beings interact with computer.It is one of the most important components of software products.The functionalities of GUI is getting more and more complex as the whole software product is getting more and more complicated. Therefore,the challenges for software testing engineers are getting bigger and bigger.They are expected to expose all types of the software defects even earlier and more frequently at every stage of software life cycle.They are expected to cover all the software functionalities,to be the final guard line before releasing to customers.If solely depending on manual testing,the software development team will have to invest more human and time resources.Meanwhile,the automation testing nowadays is mainly based on Capture/Replay,which brings big challenges on the test script maintenance. Therefore,it is essential and meaningful to research on GUI automation testing.This dissertation systematically analyzes the current research status of Graphical User Interface automation testing.Based upon the current research fruits,HP QuickTest Professional GUI automation test tool and the data-driven scripting technology,it has proposed and implemented a data-driven automation testing framework based on QTP.It has discussed the eight advantages of this automation framework.Through the practical implementation of the framework into HP Select Access project,its feasibility and advantages are clearly demonstrated and verified.
