With the developing of wireless communication applications, the application of traditional broadcasting station which aims at the specific modulation service pattern and the band width is extremely limited. It cannot adapt the modern multi-modulations and multi-services communication system any more. In order to get rid of the constraint of hardware structure, Software Radio is becoming the best way to solve the problems of co-operation among different modes and develop a variety of communication services. It is of magnitude commercial and military value and is regarded as a new great revolution to the structure of radio communication system.In this dissertation, Software Radio's actuality and future are present at first, as well as its important technique. Following these, the goal of this project is put forward: to design a high-speed communicator. Then, this dissertation introduces the current direction of Bus development, and the principle and categories of Serializer and Deserializer (SerDes), which is the basic device of high-speed serial bus.The basic form of a high-speed communicator is a programmable logic device FPGA, A/D and D/A converter, and SerDes. Its hardware design can be divided into several parts: A/D foreside analog channels design, D/A intermediate frequency (IF) analog output and FPGA digital signal transmission circuit design. This dissertation focuses on the connection of A/D and D/A's outer circuit and their assistant circuits'function. Also it details the interface circuit of SerDes, as well as the PCB design.The construction of the high-speed serial bus is also an important part of this design. This dissertation makes a point-to-point network based on SerDes after analyzing the improvement of signal processing in Software Radio. Meanwhile, it also details the method of network's expansion.Programme in FPGA is the software part of this design. Modules are used in FPGA, they are both dependant on each other and independent. Modules make the design more convenient and the program's readability is also improved. This design contains A/D and SerDes interface module, D/A interface module and an individual gain-control module. They illustrate the process of A/D sampling and D/A modulating, the process of data receive and transmit, and automatic gain control.The last part is debugging. Modelsim is used to do simulation. ChipScope Pro II is used to do real-time validation. Spectrum Analyzer is used to check the output. The result of this research tells that this high-speed communicator achieves the indicators which were put forward by system. It also proves the validity and rationality of the whole system.
