The multimedia technology with a rapid development has been widely applied nowadays, especially the application of the image acquisition and processing technology benefits the people's daily life. Recently the rapid development of DSP technology promotes the development of the video processing technology. The TI company's digital multimedia processor TMS320DM642 with abundant peripherals and good processing performance is designed for the video processing, and now it's one of the best platforms in this scope. And the visible-light Image Acquisition and Processing System discussed here is rightly basing on TMS320DM642.The overall program of this system bases on TMS320DM642, and also digital video encoder/decoder ADV7181 and ADV7171 are choosed for the hardware platform of the the embedded visible-light Image Acquisition and Processing System. The key chip is decided by the main function of this system, and then, the less important chips are decided by the hardware interfaces and peripherals, the video data flow format and so on the key chip supports. The video data flow is the key of this system's design, the Seamless connectivity of the video data flow is necessary. At the same time some principles like the currency, the standby, the simplification and the modular design are fully considered in the design. After the technical phases like the overall program design, design and drawing of schematic diagram and PCB, making into board and Welding, debug,then we accomplished this embedded visible-light Image Acquisition and Processing System. The test shows that this hardware platform can realize the visible-light Image Acquisition and Processing function we planned.1. Based on the general working principle of the Image Acquisition and Processing System and the Technology Roadmap mentioned above, the overall program which is for multi-purpose of this system has been designed.And not just give out the design self, but discuss why to design like this. This project lays the foundation for the further research for some special purposes like Image Recognition and Video Compression and Transmission.2. The system is designed as modules, the circuits are designed according to the functions of the modules.Especially, the digital video encoder/decoder module is a focus.Lots of work has been done on it. Some solutions are given for the problems coming from the design and implementation process.3. The digital video encoder/decoder ADV7181 and ADV7171 are features of this paper. Affected by the board for DM642 made by TI, most of the overall program based on dm642 copy the TI'program using SAA7105, SAA7115, TVP5150 as digital video encoder/decoder. A new solution is given out here, also the initialization procedure for them is designed.4. The PCB design has been done carefully, and the Signal Integrity problems like crosstalke, reflection, power and GND have been fully considered, which make the hardware modules function normally.5. The hardware driver for the capture port has been developed, which can drive the capture port working well.6. Establish the test platform, the image acquisition and processing fuctions of the system are tested by it, the Time-consumings gotten from the CCS of image acquisition and processing show that this system can meet the Real-time requirements. The test results show that image acquisition and processing fuctions work well.
