With the accelerative development of digital broadcast stations and digital audio technology, the professional audio editing and making software, which is the most important tool of making audio programs, has been applied widely and been an important component of producing programs in digital broadcast stations. Functions, efficiency, stability and accuracy are important criterion of the professional audio editing and making software.The design process of professional audio editing and making software is discussed in this paper. With C, C++ language, we realize good stable and high usefulness professional audio editing software which is based on Windows OS on PC. Firstly, knowledge of related digital audio technology and the advantages of modern audio editing technology are introduced in paper, and we discussed the broadcast station's application environment and its requirement to audio editing and making tool. Kinds of data structures, which are called Editing Decision List (EDL), are designed and realized to satisfy the stability of software. To guarantee the accuracy and visibility of editing audio, a method, which is generating energy file, is designed in paper. This method realized that audio wave is displayed accurately and rapidly, and it designs and uses buffers to raise audio editing and making efficiency. The design and realize process of this software is introduced in this paper, including function requirement, module division, module structure, realizing flow and so on.When user use different format files to make program in one project, it needs convert the file format and spend much time on decoding and coding, it not only decreases efficiency, but also influents the audio quality because of coding or decoding repeatedly. Supporting real-time cross-format, cross-sample rate and cross-bite rate to play, record and edit is the most special part of audio editing and making software. With the aid of energy file and editing decision list, it could avoid doing second coding or decoding to source file, and it supports multi-track editing. In addition, convenient and visible volume and phase curve adjusting are designed in software, it achieved completely"what you see is what you want get". The realization of these functions can meet broadcast station's need well.
