Editorial thoughts of newspaper and periodical were profound from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, and laid ideological foundation about modern newspaper and periodical editorial science of our country. According to the inherent characteristics of the development of the newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, this article divided newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts into three periods from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China more or less. From the perspective of the"six elements"relationships of editorial activities, this thesis examined evolution process of the newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. On the basis of the in-depth mining literatures of modern newspaper and periodical, it used"history of reflection", the method of case analysis and inductive method, from the situations of external social environments and the development of internal thoughts, respectively probed historical backgrounds and reasons of newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts at each period; from the purpose of modern newspaper and periodical editing, editorial contents and methods, and reflections on the theory of editing and publishing, respectively discussed specific features of newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts at each period. After systemically thinking and analyzing evolution reasons and characteristics of newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts at the three periods, concluded the features and disciplines about newspaper and periodical editorial thoughts in the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.
