With unique features of decentralization and self-organization, the Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) has always been given intense attention and studies in scientific research. In MANET, the primary task lies in discovering the services provided by the nodes timely and effectively. On one hand, those service discovery protocols at present all demand stable constructs which however, appear unavailable for MANET. As a result, theses protocols perform only rather low efficiency and bring about overabundant broadcast packets. On the other hand, due to the extreme complexity of MANET routing protocols, most relative experiments and research are conducted on a variety of simulators which however, are incapable of presenting a real environment and generating precise data. In this sense, it is of extreme necessity and great significance to realize a real MANET.This paper concentrates on the actuality of service discovery in MANET, proposing the theory of magnetic service: Considering each node with service a magnet field and those adjoining nodes will be able to receive the magnetism. The information of the magnetism can produce directive information in the process of service discovery thus reduce the numbers of broadcasting packets to a great extent. Based on the magnetic service, this paper proposes AODV-M (AODV-MAGNET) protocol as the derivation of the AODV (Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) protocol. The AODV-M imports the service information into the route layer and enable the service information spread with HELLO Message. And the service discovery process will be processed in route layer. And Based on AODV-M, we implement a real MANET by implement the NDIS driver MANET Driver. At last, several experiments are carried out with AODV-M protocol implemented on the real MANET. These experiments help to verify the key function of AODV-M and the performance of MANET itself.This paper has proposed the AODV protocol based on the magnetic service conception. The AODV-M protocol succeeds in promoting the efficiency of tracing the service and remarkably reducing the number of broadcasting packets. The data collected from this platform are of significant importance in accessing the performance of the MANET.
