Study On Selective Application Of DRM In Iptv

There are a lot of TV users in China, and network penetration is also relatively high. The network, in combination with TV technology in China has good prospects for development.IPTV provides streaming media content to users. Streaming media program has a huge amount of data and it requires real-time transmission. In IPTV, streaming media program can easily attract the attention of pirates because it has high definition. In a word, streaming media can be illegally copied and distributed easily. So the digital copy of the streaming media program will be the main objective for piracy group.The main task of DRM is to keep digital content from being copied and to protect the interests of content providers. As a new means of Digital Rights Management, DRM can effectively protect the copyright of media files. This paper designed a kind of selective DRM which is used in IPTV systems. This paper described the principle of the selective DRM systems in detail, including:1. Select part of streaming media data for encryption: The selective DRM system did not encrypt all of streaming media data. It encrypted only part of it.2. Streaming media encryption: The selective DRM system encrypted streaming media data and key using the three-level mechanism.The client can not receive and decrypt the data without authorization from authorization management system.The paper summarized the characteristics of selective DRM system, pointed out the inadequacies of this system and the issues to be resolved. At last, the paper analyzed the development of the selective DRM system which was used in IPTV in the future .
