Vocational Institute Student Information Management System Design And Realization

In the past eight years, vocational and technical colleges have developed into relatively large school-running scale as the result of schools merger and acquisition. However, management methods, efficiency and level can't catch up with the fast development of the running-scale owing to the following problems such as different campuses, mass students and diversified learning ways, which is the bottleneck to the sound advancement of vocational and technical colleges. In the routine management of college operation, information management is obviously complex, where both collecting and managing student information are still relying on the manual and semi-manual mode. It is urgent to set up automatic information management system for higher vocational and technical colleges, based on the rich sources and sophisticated internet technology at present.This paper designs an information management system for vocational and technical colleges. All function modules and databases in the system are based on the detailed analysis of information requirement such as enrollment management, student status management, and academic performance management. ASP, IIS, and ADO technology are applied in the B/S three-tier architecture of ASP to construct web site and the SQL Server 2000 database for the management from enrollment to graduation, involved in basic information entry, change, query and search operation. The student status management, score management and data transmission are completely on the web, which helps to cooperate and share data between faculties and student affairs management department.The information management system for vocational and technical colleges is designed on the concept of integrating web service technologies and information management system and can offer meaningful experience for the research and development of the information management system in other departments.
