Region Reported The Development Of The Third Way

After the historical reform in the hundreds of Chinese regional newspapers in 2003, only 44 qualified county level regional newspapers were finally taken over by party newspapers of municipal or provincial level. These survivors, deprived of the functions as party newspaper, have completed the change from county party newspapers into regional newspapers.Based on the history and the change of functions of the county regional newspaper, this article employs newspaper editing theory, analyzes the present situation and the opportunities as well as challenges, and finally discusses the future development of the county regional newspapers. It believes that it would be better for the newspapers to take the third way which combines the authority of party newspaper and the rich content of city newspaper.
