With fast growth of the Internet technology, internal external business communications will become more and more important. Great efficiency and high reliability of business information exchange and real time data querying could reduce operation costs and improve port efficiency and competitive capability. People have already realized that various business data formats and multiple standards are the key bottle-neck blocking of the development of terminal EDI. The building of a unified system of information sharing and maritime logistics services to businesses and government regulatory exchange of information between departments, as well as the pier between the heterogeneous system data sharing, through logistics and the flow of information and cooperation, will be converted into traditional patterns Logistics has become a new model we are facing a new issue. Common information sharing platform provides communication between the terminal and ocean shipping enterprise, and shares information in heterogeneous port applications. How to make the ocean shipping logistics and information stream cooperate reciprocally and make the traditional mode turn to a new pattern logistics mode is becoming a new problem which we are facing for.Web Service is used to create open distributed system components, provide data and services for other applications. Theoretically, it is like a black box, the client does not need to know how the server is running, the client requests can be based on any platform, using any programming language, as long as they can follow the definition of Web Service interface to send and receive messages. One of the primary advantages of the Web Service architecture is that it allows programs written in different languages on different platforms to communicate with each other in a standards-based way. Web Service is used as a platform, and has the advantages of not only reflected in the information provided, but also reflected in the provision of services.Web Service integration with EDI technology, not only can expand the scope of application of EDI, and to enable more SMEs to join the EDI network. This paper describes the characteristics of EDI and Web Service technologies and new business both in the context of the application, through the application of a technology system to achieve Web Service, discussed in detail the development Web Service application process.This Paper, combined with the research of CMTQD Terminal Operation System, Programs an information interchange system objected to a container harbor and mainly study the web service information interchange.There are five chapters of the paper. Introduction, it introduced what is EDI and the development of EDI. Firstly, it introduced the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) technology, Web Service technology and XML (extensible Markup Language) related-technology. In the second chapter, the author made further research of the key techniques of the Web Service EDI, and the proposed combination of EDI solutions to expand the functions of traditional EDI, and the technique of the transform between XML and RDB. In the second chapter, the author made further research of the key techniques of the Web Service EDI. In the third chapter, the author researched on the collectivity design of EDI System for container terminal and its applications based on Web Service. Web Services technology is interoperability, reusability, loosely coupling and openness, etc. The author uses three modes and or designs the collectivity function module according to the operation flow of the Port. The system is divided into five items, EDI receiving and parsing subsystem, EDI maintenance subsystem, EDI creating and sending subsystem, EDI data querying subsystem, web real time querying subsystem, In this chapter, we focus on realizing the EDI interchange subsystem and web real time querying subsystem. In the forth chapter, we show the system running result, such as reporting maintenance, sending, receiving, sailing date querying, querying container history information, etc. Summarized by the Web Service EDI system superiority, through the Web Service to further expand terminal EDI system to meet the needs of future development.Nowadays, EDI based on Web Service is brewing. The paper's innovation is introducing Web Service information interchange mode. Web Service uses the message based on the XML as the basic method of data communication, it provides both Electronic Data Interchange of report and interoperable mode, allows Heterogeneous Systems could accessing the EDI system by SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) such as its local system, sequentially realizing more flexible in data accessing and interchanging. The EDI system based on Web Service is cheap, global, simple and extensible. It can develop a deep research to meet harbor and enterprise EDI that is now using. In this way, our country's container transportation can more efficient, convenient and economical. We believe this technology must be largely developed in the field of logistics information interchange.
