To enhance competitiveness of small and medium sized companies, it's very important to improve their software development project management.Basing on the study of CMM and RUP, this research tries to present a solution of software development project management for small and medium sized ERP software companies. The solution's emphasis is software development process management.The solution is created from tailoring RUP model, using the method of Responsibility Matrix and Artifact Flow that is a new way to tailor RUP. The method is simple and practical. The final solution divides the process of software development project into four phases: inception, elaboration, construction and transition. Every phase has the description of its artifacts, roles and workflows. The solution also provides iteration patterns. It hopes that this research can provide helps for small and medium sized ERP software companies to improve their management on software development project.
