Three-dimensional seismic exploration has become today's major means of oil and gas exploration and development. Using the visualization technology of the three-dimensional data field to show the seismic data, the efficiency and success rate of oil and gas exploration can improve. This article studies the direct volume rendering algorithm based on the texture mapping of the 3-D seismic data.It is difficult to real-time dynamic display, as the great amount of computation of the direct volume rendering. For realization the practical application of the direct volume rendering, direct volume rendering of the 3-D seismic data can use the hardware texture mapping functions. In this article, the direct volume rendering methods based on the three-dimensional texture mapping, can improve volume rendering speed, and generate better quality image at the same time. This article studies the visualization methods based on texture mapping of the 3-D seismic data in depth, and presents all aspects of the experimental program. First, by knowing traits of seismic data, we value classified data, and generate the texture according to the conversion function. Second, sampling polygons generate, which are parallel to the projection plane in screen space, and mapping relationship between vertices of polygons and coordinates in the texture space. Finally, using the interpolation computing and image blend with opacity of the hardware, re-sample the texture, then generate the final image in the back-to-front visibility order. In the process of generation sampling polygons, making full use of the nature that sampling planes parallel to each other, and structural characteristics of the data volume, can generate the correct sequence of vertices of sampling polygon quickly.
